From the heterosexual car salesman who is called “gay” for not being aggressive enough to the tough female executive who’s deemed the b-word to the transgender worker who is taunted for undergoing a sex change, employees in companies across the globe are enduring harassment in the workplace. | Diversity Holidays September 15 – October 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month, a period in the United States when people recognize the contributions of Hispanic Americans to the country and celebrate Hispanic culture. This month corresponds with the independence of eight Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, Chile and Belize.
October 1-31 is National Disability Employment Awareness Month, an annual observance created to raise awareness about disability employment issues and to celebrate the contributions of workers with disabilities.
October 13-19 is Sukkot, a Jewish holiday also known as the Feast of Tabernacles. The observance commemorates the years that the Jews spent in the desert en route to the Promised Land, and celebrates the way in which God took special care of them under difficult circumstances.
